Course Description
This course covers careers in the Automotive Industry, ASE Certification, and the principles of fuels, lubricants, engines, engine classification, displacement, cooling systems, belts, intake, and exhaust systems.
Justification
This course is required for Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) certification. It is approved by the program advisory committee. It is a core course for the Automotive Technology AAS degree, TE certificate, and certificates of proficiency.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will learn about the career opportunities in the automotive industry.
- Students will learn the names, operations, and functions of automotive engine components.
- Students will learn the four-stroke cycle.
- Students will learn the basics of the lubrication system.
- Students will learn the basics of the cooling system.
- Students will learn the basics of the fuel system.
- Students will maintain a reasonably clean work environment.
