Course Description
This course is designed to prepare the student for the job market, learning skills in time management, goal setting, ethics, and professional dress. The importance of working and communicating with others, healthy habits, and a positive attitude are discussed.
Justification
This course is approved by the program advisory committee and fulfills a portion of the Human Relations requirement for this Career and Technical Education program.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will have an understanding of healthy habits, the process of goal setting, and how to create a time-management plan.
- Students will demonstrate and explain professional image and ethics in the work place.
- Students will identify the guidelines for conducting the client consultation and for using effective communication skills with others.
Course Content
Course objectives will be achieved by providing students with instructional experiences in the following areas:-establish short-term and long-term goals-use individual time management skills-ethics in the work place-professional image in the salon-acquiring healthful habits-effective communication with others-handling communication barriers-conducting the client consultation
