Course Description

This course gives students the hands-on lab experience for DMT 2311. Students study formulas, design, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic operated systems, including rams, pistons, apply devices, motors, etc.

Justification

This course is required for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Education Foundation accreditation. It is approved by the program advisory committee. It is a core course for the Diesel and Heavy Duty Technology AAS degree and certificates.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to safely perform the tasks listed in the current edition of ASE Education Foundation Accreditation for Diesel and Heavy-Duty Training Programs.
  2. Students will be able to diagnose hydraulic problems and identify needed repairs.
  3. Students will be able to use the appropriate specialized tools and equipment to diagnose and repair hydraulic systems.
  4. Students will be able to disassemble and reassemble hydraulic components.
  5. Students will maintain a reasonably clean work environment.
