Title: Level 4 Introduction to Literature
Prerequisites: Successful completion of ESL 1040 in the ESL Department or placement in ESL 1170 through the department
Description: This course introduces English language learners to reading, analyzing, and discussing literary works. Students will explore a variety of genres, including short stories, poetry, drama, and excerpts from novels, to develop an understanding of literary themes, characters, and plot. Emphasis is placed on building advanced reading comprehension, critical thinking, and vocabulary through close reading and class discussion. This course is cross-listed with CED 1170 (Level 4 Introduction to Literature – Continuing Education).
