Title: Level 4 TOEFL Preparation Course

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Level 3 in the ESL Department or placement in ESL 1191 through the department

Description: This course will provide comprehensive coverage of the language skills and test-taking strategies students need to do well on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam. This course also serves as a review of grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

Title: Level 4 College Preparation Integrated Skills

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Level 3 in the ESL Department or placement in ESL 1191 through the department

Description: This course will strengthen English language learners' English proficiency for academic study in college and university environments. Students will become familiar with university level test format and question types while developing skills in reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Instruction focuses on building academic vocabulary, improving grammar accuracy, and practicing integrated communication tasks similar to those on the TOEFL exam. Emphasis is placed on effective test-taking strategies and time management to help students achieve advanced high or superior proficiency level. Students will strengthen their command of CEFR B2 and C1 level vocabulary. This course is cross-listed with CED 1191 (College Preparation Integrated Skills – Continuing Education).
