Dr. of Dental Medicine at Copperfield Family Dental - West Jordan, UT
James Shoff graduated with an Associates of Science from Snow College in 2009. He then earned a B.S. in Exercise Physiology at University of Utah in 2011. From there, he began the four grueling years of dental school, and was part of the very first inaugural class in Utah at Roseman University College of Dental Medicine. He now works as an associate dentist at Copperfield Family Dental in West Jordan. He says it's a "dream come true."
What are some of your hobbies?
I married my beautiful wife McCall in 2011. This might sound a little crazy, but we are the proud parents of three children under the age of three. One boy, and two girls. So for now, my main hobby is being a dad. I love it! I get so excited to return home from work to be with my family, and they definitely take up most of my free time. Other than that, I enjoy yard work, working out, playing basketball, and golf. I hope to one day own a boat because I absolutely love the water.
How did Snow College contribute to your accomplishments?
I am a proud badger. I guess I considered myself in High School as more of a "jock". I listened in class, and got descent grades, but never took school very seriously. During my first two years in college at Snow, I really learned how to be a good student. I learned good study habits and truly dedicated myself to my studies -- spending countless late nights at the old library until the "Closing Time" song blasted though those quiet halls. The atmosphere at Snow is a breeding ground for success, and truly catapulted me into getting accepted into Dental School. I was also fortunate enough to be part of the Snow College Ambassadors during my two years at Snow. The skills and memories taken away from that experience were priceless.
What advice would you give to other Snow College students/alumni?
I won't sugar coat this at all: the eight years of education after High School were tough! There were definitely some things I would change, but going to Snow College would NOT be one of them. I loved my time there! Although my studies consumed a lot of my life, I do want to offer one piece of advice to current and future badgers. This is something that my father told me on the phone after my first semester at Snow College. He said, "Son, don't forget to smell the roses." Any stressed student needs an outlet, so be sure to find yours. Go badgers!
