Snow College Announces Provost

Melanie Jenkins, long-time employee, appointed

September 13, 2021 – Snow College announced today that Melanie Jenkins has been appointed to serve as Provost, a position she has held on an interim basis since July 2020, effective October 1, 2021.  Prior to the interim appointment, Jenkins served as the Associate Provost, Assistant Vice President, and Director of General Education at the College. Her experience includes twenty-four years of being a faculty member, with assignments as department chair and division dean.

In addition to these leadership responsibilities, Jenkins has led the institutional strategic plan and inclusion initiative and served on numerous College committees including Strategic Enrollment Management, Innovation Academy, and Budget Task Force.  She currently co-chairs the Utah System of Higher Education General Education Task Force and is a member of the statewide Transfer and Articulation Task Force.

The Sanpete County, Utah, native is a graduate of Manti High School and Brigham Young University.  She received a bachelor and master degree in English, has completed PhD coursework, is currently pursuing an EdD in Educational Practices and Leadership, and has earned several certificates in leadership and online course design. She continues to teach an English course each semester and as Provost oversees all academic divisions and student success functions. 

Of her appointment, Jenkins says, “I am honored to be asked to fill this role on a permanent basis. I love Snow College. I believe in our mission and look forward to continuing a focus on student success through collaboration with our exceptional faculty and staff.”

President Bradley Cook said, “Melanie is a terrific leader.  I have watched her in action for the past two years and am impressed with her work ethic and talents.  She has been very effective in advocating for academic quality and has the confidence of our faculty and staff. She is an incredible team member, and I am pleased she has accepted this appointment.”
