Stacee Y. McIff Appointed as VP for Technical Education

Snow College Emphasizes Role of Technical Education

Stacee McIff

April 27, 2021 - Snow College announced today that Stacee Yardley McIff’s interim position as Vice President for Technical Education and Workforce Development will become a permanent appointment effective May 1. McIff has served in this capacity since August 2020 and has worked at Snow College for nearly fifteen years. Her career started as a faculty member in the Business Division teaching courses and advising the student business clubs.  She then served as the Business Department Chair where she and her colleagues doubled the department enrollment, helped establish the GRIT Center for Rural Entrepreneurship, and created multiple partnerships and opportunities for business students.  She also co-chaired the Strategic Planning Task Force and was asked to fill the Interim Associate Provost for Academic Affairs position. One of the highlights of McIff’s leadership in this role was leading in and securing nearly $1 million for Snow College as part of the statewide Learn & Work Initiative.  This past year, McIff has worked with Interim Provost Melanie Jenkins to explore organizational best practices and move forward with expanding all types of postsecondary education.

McIff will lead the Learn & Work 2.0 Initiative and strategically transform technical education offerings throughout the college in her now-permanent role. She will continue to work with both the Ephraim and Richfield campuses and collaborate with faculty, industry leaders, and advisory boards to provide additional pertinent classes, programs, and trainings.

During the 2020 legislative session, the college received an appropriation specific to technical education.  At the same time, the governing board structure in Utah changed to combine the former Utah State Board of Regents and Utah Technical Colleges Board of Trustees.  McIff has effectively navigated through these changes and coordinated with statewide players.  President Brad Cook said, “Stacee’s leadership and work ethic do not go unnoticed.  She is a well-respected colleague with tech ed leaders throughout the state, and the college’s Deans’ Council recently selected Stacee to receive the prestigious Elliot Cameron Service Award. Stacee was also recently recognized by Best of State as the top college administrator in the state of Utah. She is innovative, articulate, and entrepreneurial.  I have every confidence she will continue to excel in this role.”
