Course Description

This course provides students with a cultural and language experience in a foreign country. The course may be faculty-led, with a Snow College professor traveling with the students, or part of Snow College's partner universities reciprocal student exchange program. The course will be repeatable for credit, up to 3 credits.

Justification

Foreign experiences are essential to becoming a global citizen, as well as an educated person. Students often want to pursue study abroad while attending Snow College. This course will facilitate Snow College in meeting these students needs. Through agreements that the Center for Global Engagement has made, Snow College students may attend approved foreign colleges and universities while paying tuition at Snow College. Additionally, Snow College faculty-led trips can arrange for international exchange credit for travel learning with an academic component.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. The student will gain a deeper awareness of another culture and a new perspective of their own in the process.
  2. The student will increase their skills at intercultural awareness and communication.

  3. The student will gain knowledge and awareness of a different country's history, language, and culture through study and engagement in another country.

Course Content

The goal of global education is to help participants engage in their learning within the context of the culture they will be in while abroad. Global inquiry course content will vary, depending on the course topic and geographic location. Faculty led courses will promote experiential learning and global awareness in countries outside of the United States.
