Juniors and Seniors will come to the first Social and Behavioral Sciences Snow Day
February 12, 2019 -- Ephraim, UT – On February 12, high school students from five schools will come to Snow College and participate in the first ever Social and Behavioral Sciences Snow Day. Juniors from Juab, Tintic, and North Sanpete as well as seniors from Gunnison and Manti are invited to be college students for a day.
The students will have the opportunity to participate in “’course previews’ in the areas of social science, psychology, criminal justice, home and family studies, education, physical education, and admissions,” according to Katie Justesen, the committee chair of the event.
Students need to preregister with their high school counselors. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and they will meet in the Eccles Concert Hall. The students will be provided with free lunch and the opportunity to win prizes.
This event was planned specifically to address teachers’ and counselors concerns for students. Justesen said, “We would like to reach out to local high school juniors and seniors to give them a taste of college and show them that college can be dynamic and exciting! We also want to reach students who are not being recruited that we want them here at Snow and that our campus is programmed to help them succeed in college.”
