Ten students to be honored at annual event
               
               		
               April 22, 2024–EPHRAIM, UT – Snow College is pleased to announce the winners of the
                  2024 Lorenzo Snow Awards. Lorenzo Snow, one of the namesakes of the school, was known
                  for being a believer in personal accountability and excellence. Each year, Snow College
                  recognizes ten students who exemplify these characteristics. The following students
                  will be recognized in a ceremony to be held on April 23, 2024.
               
               		
               
                  			
                  
                     				
                     - Outstanding Business and Applied Technology Student: Maddison Wall
 
                     				
                     - Nursing student Maddison Wall is a positive influence on her classmates, instructors,
                        and everyone she meets. Maddison serves as the class representative for her cohort,
                        a tutor, and an IVC facilitator in addition to her outstanding classwork. She has
                        so much potential and will be a fantastic nurse. 
 
                     
                     				
                     - Outstanding Natural Science and Mathematics Student: Emily Thurston Pattee
 
                     				
                     - Emily is studying genetics and has demonstrated exceptional research skills, leading
                        her research team in a project using DNA barcoding to identify grasshopper species
                        in the local area. Emily is a natural leader and helps lift all those around her.
 
                     
                     				
                     - Outstanding Humanities Student: Elizabeth Allred
 
                     				
                     - Elizabeth shows excellence in her coursework, citizenship, and service. In addition
                        to her coursework, she has taught lower-level English as a second language classes
                        (ESL), mentored peers, and tutored ESL students. Elizabeth is a reliable and valuable
                        member of the Humanities Division.
 
                     
                     				
                     - Outstanding Social and Behavioral Science Student: Avery Allred
 
                     				
                     - Family and Consumer Science (FCS) major Avery Allred has been highly involved during
                        her time at Snow. She has been involved in several campus service projects and was
                        selected to represent the division on Capitol Hill. Avery is kind, inclusive, innovative,
                        and a natural leader.
 
                     
                     				
                     - Outstanding Fine Arts and Communications Student: Emilie Lewellen
 
                     				
                     - Music major Emilie Lewellen takes her coursework seriously. She has maintained a high
                        GPA while also taking on leadership positions. A skilled musician, she has also spent
                        many hours volunteering. Emilie embodies everything that Snow College stands for.
                        She is truly a rare find.
 
                     
                     				
                     - Male Athlete of the Year: Max Triplett
 
                     				
                     - Max has played on the men’s basketball team for two years and was voted team captain.
                        His dominance on the court is mirrors by his excellence in the classroom. Max has
                        maintained a 4.0 is working toward a degree in mechanical engineering. He is an inspiration
                        and will leave a lasting legacy on the athletics program.
 
                     
                     				
                     - Female Athlete of the Year: Ainsley Thurber
 
                     				
                     - Ainsley has been a one-of-a-kind leader on the women’s basketball team and in the
                        community. Voted as team captain, Ainsley leads her team on and off the court. Her
                        exemplary leadership and willingness to help anyone in need has left a great impact
                        on the people in the community and Snow College.
 
                     
                     				
                     - Inspirational Student: Lydia Dent
 
                     				
                     - Lydia is a constant source of inspiration to those around her. She has excelled in
                        her academic pursuits and in her role as a resident assistant. Lydia helps to foster
                        a sense of community—she is one who sees people and their value. She inspires others
                        through her actions and unwavering positivity despite a myriad of trials that confront
                        her. 
 
                     
                     				
                     - Lorenzo Snow: Nicolas Ziadi
 
                     				
                     - Nicolas is not only an impressive student, but he is also genuinely a pleasure to
                        be around. Coming from Argentina, he noticed that many international students suffered
                        from homesickness. Nicolas jumped in to find solutions that brought a sense of community.
                        While many students talk about problems, Nicolas looks for solutions and helps lift
                        those around him.
 
                     
                     				
                     - Badger of the Year: Bishwas Thapa
 
                     				
                     - Bishwas is a great force for good at Snow. His dedication to his studies is an inspiration
                        to those around him. He gives his all to everything he does and has been a great asset
                        to the Software Engineering department. A founding member of the Computer Science
                        club, he has shared his love for the field with his peers and left an impact on the
                        school.
 
                     				
                     				
                     - Student Employee of the Year: McKell Syddall
 
                     				
                     - Wellness Advocate and Healthy Badgers Representative McKell Syddall is a dream employee.
                        As the only Wellness Advocate on the Richfield campus, McKell worked diligently to
                        spread awareness and help to her fellow Badgers. She is responsible, kind, compassionate,
                        and empathetic—all the traits we ever hope for in an employee.
 
                     
                     			
                  		 
               
               		
               President Stacee Yardley McIff will present each student with their award. She said,
                  “We are so proud of our students and are happy to celebrate their accomplishments.
                  Their hard work, coupled with our faculty and staff’s care, is a recipe for student
                  success.”
